Thundered Days
This piece is part of the Choc Board, a 30 day writing challenge instigated by Chocolate Knox. You can read his Substack here. This is my day 1.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
The God of glory thunders;
The Lord is over many waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
The voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
Psalm 29:3-7
This is a time of uncertainty and swift change for us as a family.
A week ago, I stood washing dishes, a violent thunderstorm happening just outside the window, a sleeping newborn, one child crying about something unimportant beside me, and another chasing around the house giggling maniacally.
The whole picture seemed to sum things up, so I wrote this poem about it.
Thundered Days
O Praise our God for lives of thundered days
Hands sunk, plated waters deep-soaked in joy
Rich-laden glee, and tears not whole rightly wrought
Yet woven tight by Heaven’s worded-ways
What is this storm but heavy falling dew?
Mercurial mercies, from skies wise-shaken
Times by finite hands un-shaped, yet full known
Though every plan play trickster, let God be true.

Let God be true.
I am doing the 30 days as well. Good look and keep heart! Excellent poem and congratulations on the baby!
